Chastain’s deceased father, seen here in the photograph, held by Mayor Chastain was there in spirit.

At the April 2nd, 2024 meeting, the Hiawassee City Council voted to restate the 2023 SPLOST Report to reclassify expenses related to the Boardwalk project from Economic Development to Parks and Recreation.

The Hiawassee City Council does hereby announce that the millage rate will be set at a meeting to be held at the
Hiawassee City Hall on December 19, 2024 at 6pm and pursuant to the requirements of O.C.G.A. § 48-5-32 does hereby publish the
following presentation of the current year's tax digest and levy, along with the history of the tax digest and levy for the past five years.
